The Origin Story
Jack “CouRageJD” Dunlop was born on April 23, 1994, in New Jersey.
He grew up in New Jersey, and when he was 6 years old, his younger sister Kelly was born. He celebrated her high school graduation on his social media channels in 2018.
After high school—where Dunlop was his football team’s hawk mascot—he headed for Towson University to study filmmaking and media.
Famous comedian, actress, and TV stand-up contestant Amy Schumer is a fellow Towson alum.
Dunlop graduated in 2016 with a degree in Electronic Media and Film.
Girlfriend
On September 28, 2019, CouRageJD started dating Maddie McCarthy. McCarthy is active on Twitter and Instagram with tens of thousands of followers, and the pair celebrated their first anniversary as a couple with a shout-out on CouRageJD’s Twitter.
He complimented his girlfriend’s beauty, infectious laugh, and her tenacious work ethic, and claimed that “together, we’re unstoppable.”
In typical YouTuber fashion, the couple also did a Q&A video in his channel.
A Rising Star
Dunlop is known for his sense of humor and ability to poke fun at himself, instead of targeting others.
In a recent tweet, he said: “I’m going to an Ariana Grande concert in Fortnite. This might be the peak of my life.”
As much as CouRageJD may seem born to the celebrity life, he didn’t actually want to be an influencer.
He just wanted to play video games.
He first made his foray into the esports space in 2007 when Halo was big.
His charismatic nature and enthusiasm endeared him to other players, including MLG host Chris Puckett.
He started an internship at MLG several years later, paying his dues and learning more about what goes on behind the scenes of the esports business.
Eventually, he started commentating for Call of Duty: World League matches.
He built his experience as a host and caster from 2014 to 2018.
All of this was helping Dunlop gradually build up his own fan base in the gaming world.
At the start of 2018, he realized it was time to pick a side—and he picked YouTube.
He committed to creating gaming content full-time on YouTube.
He announced his intention to sign with OpTic Gaming and started streaming.
The relationship with OpTic didn’t last long, and by November, Dunlop was a free agent.
He partnered with Brendon Urie for the Fortnite Pro-AM on June 16, 2019.
Many of the connections Dunlop has made over time are now valuable streaming and collaboration partners.
He streams with big gaming names like TimTheTatMan, Ninja, and Dr DisRespect.
The 10-Year-Old Army
One of Dunlop’s most notable connections is with his fellow Fortnite players.
After befriending a Fortnite gamer named Connor—who turned out to be 10 years old—Jack spoke to Connor’s parents.
He offered to get the kid set up on YouTube. Connor’s parents consented.
Several of Connor’s followers—most of them around his age—are now a loyal part of CouRageJD’s crew, and JD often laughingly calls them his 10-Year-Old Army.
Height
CouRageJD is about 5 ft 9 in (175 cm) tall.

CouRageJD – Net Worth
So, how much is CouRageJD worth? Jack earned most of his wealth from streaming on Twitch, merch, and ads on YouTube. On YouTube, Jack has over 707 million views–about $2.1 million in revenue before taxes. Therefore, American Twitch streamer CouRageJD has an estimated net worth of $3 million.
In May of 2019, Dunlop signed with ultra-successful esports team 100 Thieves.
Fans had long suspected the announcement was coming—and it was actually leaked a few days before by Ninja—but after weeks of “will he? Won’t he?” questions, it was confirmed.
The announcement shouldn’t have been as exciting as it was, since Dunlop was already living at the 100 Thieves content house in Los Angeles, California, at the time.
CouRageJD joined Nadeshot, Valkyrae, and NoahJ456 at the house.
The partnership was obviously one that agreed with Dunlop and his fellow content creators.
In April of 2021, he officially announced that he was now a co-owner of 100T alongside Valkyrae, Nadeshot, Scooter Braun, and rap superstar Drake.
This meant that Dunlop receives equity in the 100 Thieves company, which Forbes valued at close to $200 million.
