A wine for cats you say? Paw me a glass…
Shark Tank’s stand-out product this week is just that, a selection of wines for our furry friends made by Apollo Peak — including a variety called Pinot Meow.
In case you’re from the other side of the pet divide, they do versions for dogs too.
Obviously Apollo Peak’s wine (and cocktails) for cats and dogs is NOT alcoholic — but is designed as a delicious treat for our four-legged friends, so they can lap up their favorite varietal while we enjoy our own glass.
The firm say their beverages were created to “help bridge the social divide between humans and their pets”, and is a safe alternative to feeding them your “real” wine.
Apollo Peak’s drinks are made with organic herbs like catnip, peppermint and chamomile, as well as fresh organic beets — all grown in the USA — with added Vitamin C.
The company is the brainchild of former pet food company salesman Brandon Zavala, who set it up in 2015…but let’s not give him all the credit — the firm’s CFO (Chief Feline Officer) is Apollo the cat, who the firm is named after.
Their cat wines and cocktails include the White Kittendel, the Pinot Meow, the Moscato, The Meowtini, The Mewomasa, The Meowgarita, and The Catbernet (kudos to the person who had to come up with all the names).
For dogs they have The ZinfanTail, The Doggy Mary, The Malbark, and The CharDOGnay (that last one made us laugh out loud!).
There are various different bottle sizes, from 1.6 ounces to 12 ounces (or meownces or pounces as Apollo Peak calls them), with prices currently as low as $4.95 including a $1 discount. They also have a range of accessories.
You can currently buy their products via their website and get 10 per cent off by signing up for their newsletter. They are also available in lots of stores across the US.
Shark Tank airs Fridays at 9/8c on ABC.
