Khanyi Mbau got romantically involved with Mandla Mthembu (a former Obben Island Inmate, who is a multi-millionaire) in 2005 when he was 50 years old and got married in July 2006.

She starred in the Dstv Vuzu documentary, I Am, and played the role of Sindisiwe Sibeko on DStv’s Mzansi Magic mini-series “Like Father Like Son”.
